Oktapodi is a short created by a talented team of students at the famous Gobelins L’ecole de l’image in 2007. It tells the story of two octopi that get separated and the adventure that ensues.
Every year, the graduating students of Gobelins are to make a short animation using different methods andthe resulting movies are always a delight to watch! Many of them go on to win distinguished prizes and mentions. They are available on their website and you should totally check them out. Oktapodi definitely has been one of my favorites of the last few years and I thought it should be shared here!
November is Grow a Mustache for Prostate Cancer month, also known as Movember. It is also Art Everyday Month. But mostly, it’s National Novel Writing Month AKA NaNoWriMo. For those who don’t know what that is, every November, an international community of writers, amateur writers, or like me: wannabe amateur writers, gets together and works towards a common goal: writing a 50 000 words novel in 3o days. The novel doesn’t have to be good, it doesn’t have to be structured or even to make sense, the only thing that matters is that you reach 50 000 words by the end of the month. The goal of NaNoWriMo is quantity and not quality. It might be good, it might be bad, but one thing is sure, it lets you revel in your creativity.
If you are like me, a wannabe amateur writer that never writes more than 2998 words whenever the teacher requires a 3000 words paper, it’s a fairly good goal.
One beautiful thing about NaNoWriMo is that it gives you the opportunity to get in touch with other writers from your community. All thourought the month of November, meetups are organized and people can gather and work on their novel together. So if you are in Montreal, stay tuned because Edith and I will most certainly come up with spontaneous meetups!
What do you win if you “win” Nanowrimo? A web badge, 50 000 words, and a sense of accomplishment.
